USA Today-bestselling novelist. Experienced content and copy editor. Mad for the beasties. Fine tea connoisseur. Homesteader in training. Longtime lover of words, of all shape and size.
I’m Jen Blood
For the past fifteen years, I’ve worked as a professional copywriter, content and copy editor, novelist, and freelance journlist. If it’s a job that involves words, I’ve probably done it. I hold an MFA in Creative Writing with a focus on Popular Fiction from the University of Southern Maine, studying with some of the greatest writers – and teachers – I’ve ever met.
In 2014, I opened Adian Editing, devoted to editing plot-driven fiction for independent and traditionally published novelists around the world. At that time, I was living in a rented duplex with my mom, working fourteen hours a day six days a week to keep my editing business and writing career on track. I worked with some truly extraordinary writers at that time, and learned an immeasurable amount about both the craft of editing and the intricacies of running my own business.
Life has changed considerably since that time, and I think those changes merit a new business perspective. I opened Jen Blood Editing to provide professional content and copy editing services to both fiction and nonfiction writers looking for a more personal relationship with their editor. From holiday cards to scheduled Skype or email check-ins, Jen Blood Editing is about establishing a relationship meant to span the length of your writing career.
Cups of Tea
My philosophy as an editor is to work with my clients to help them evolve as writers. This means that a client who may have come to me initially needing structural editing as well as a comprehensive content and copy edit frequently evolves to the point where they need only a quality beta reader and perhaps an additional copy edit. I’m always happy to work with the client to come up with a package that best suits their needs.
- Content + Copy (Full Editing Package)
- Structural Editing
- Beta Reading
- Content Editing
- Copy Editing
Why bother to write anything less?
